Following on from a successful event in January 2023, when we rehearsed and gave workshop performances of Richard Strauss' Rosenkavalier Suite and Respighi's Pines of Rome, Redhill Sinfonia will be holding a similar event on January 6th, 2024. The repertoire for the 2024 workshop day will be Rachmaninov's Symphonic Dances.
A performance in Reigate Park Church in which Sibelius' First Symphony will precede Strauss' Oboe Concerto and the orchestral version of Vaughan Williams' Serenade to Music. This programme replaces the previously advertised film music concert, which has had to be postponed due to the current closure of the Harlequin Theatre in Redhill.
Saturday 27th April, 2024, at 7.30pm in St. James' Church Uplands, Swansea
Mozart Concerto for Flute and Harp (soloists - Wendy Quinlan, Flute, and Eleri Dawkins, Harp)
Christopher Weeks Concerto for Violin and Chamber Ensemble (soloist - Robert Atchison)
Mozart Symphony No. 40 in G minor
Beethoven's exquisite Violin Concerto will be performed by talented soloist Gabriella Bavetta, in a programme which will also feature Brahms' First Symphony and Schumann's Overture Genoveva.
Or... a tale of two symphonies: Florence Price's first and Dvorak's ninth.
The Redhill Sinfonia Winter Workshop is becoming an extremely popular event with musicians in the area - nearly 100 string players participated in 2024's day-long workshop on Rachmaninov's Symphonic Dances. In 2025, we will rehearse - and give a workshop performance of - Bruckner's Ninth Symphony.
